ENROLMENT / REQUIREMENTS

ENROLMENT

Parents / Caregivers of children enrolling will be asked to complete an enrolment form. The Ministry requires that a copy of a child’s birth certificate is shown to verify birth dates. We also require a copy of the immunization certificate found in the child's Well-child book or you can get a printout from your Dr's.

SCHOOL VISITS

The school welcomes visits by children prior to starting school. These can be arranged with the New Entrant Teacher.

MEDICAL INFORMATION AND FAMILY MATTERS

If your child has an allergy that may need urgent attention (e.g. Tablets for wasp stings), please inform us and provide us with the necessary treatment. We should also be made aware of any other special problems such as diabetes, epilepsy, asthma and heart trouble.

HEALTH OF PUPILS

Any pupil who becomes ill or is injured at school will be cared for to the best of our ability by Staff with First Aid Certificates. We ask that you provide contact numbers including the number of a family member or friend who can be contacted should you be unavailable in an emergency situation. In the case of an accident requiring medical treatment, the pupil will be taken to a Doctor and the parents notified immediately. In emergencies the ambulance may be called.

ABSENCES FROM SCHOOL

Attendance at school is required to be regular and punctual. Children can not progress and learn if they do not attend school regularly. For safety and attendance reasons it is important that parents and teachers know where children are. Please notify the school office on the first day of any absence before 8:30 am. The school secretary will contact unexplained absentees as a safety measure. Provided you have rung and explained your child’s absence no note is required. The school will contact parents / caregivers where attendance is a concern.

PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS

This may be organised by sending a signed note from a parent or a telephone call. You are required to sign the Sign Out Book and to sign your child back in on return. No one except parents / caregivers / guardians are permitted to take children from the school at anytime unless the school has been informed of alternative arrangements. Copies of court orders are required to exclude a parent from having legal access or to outline special custody arrangements.
